Blog #8

 I have only previously made a website using Wix before so using Weebly was a new experience for me. I learned how to use different features like the embed code feature of the website builder. I disliked how it seemed you could only work off a template and there was a lot that needed to be deleted from the template to be used for my purposes. Before using Weebly, I also tested out Wix again to see which user interface I liked more and I found it very interesting that Wix now has an AI generated text button to help users fill in their websites. I think with proper use of this tool, this could be very helpful to speed up basic web design. Everything I learned from this assignment will help in my future career if I ever need to make my own website or edit an existing website.       My initial experiences with Diigo were not very good. I had trouble getting signed up in the first place and then once I was and began using the tool I had trouble as I have never used browser extensions like Diigo before. I was very confused especially on how to use the share permalink feature. I also prefer to save documents onto my computer and highlight and take notes on them with the gallery tool, however I now know that Diigo is a good alternative tool to do this. Diigo seems especially useful if you want to annotate a document or website and share those annotations with others.     My experience with blogging has been good so far. It is definitely a very easy tool to use and the different features seem very useful. I did not previously know that blogs could have a creative commons license embedded in them and I thought that that was really interesting and useful.       I did not have twitter until I was required to get it for this class and my early experiences with it were fine. The user interface and functionality of the website are both good, the platform is just not my preferred way to digest or interact with content. I have been interacting with the educational accounts we were required to follow and the content has been interesting to look through, especially from the U.S department of education. Twitter may be helpful in my future career in order to quickly get information from many different sources about a topic I am interested in. It is also easy to interact with content and share my own content which can help me to build connections.     The digital divide can affect students in schools by  making it more difficult to complete online homework at home, or homework that requires internet access for searches or additional learning resources.        For standard 6, Human-Computer interactions and artificial intelligence, I would explain this standard to 6th graders as learning when computers are helpful and when they are hurtful. This standard focuses on identifying when computers make tasks easier, but I think it is important to also stress the other side of this, when computers make tasks harder. An example of when tasks are made easier with computers is studying. There are countless study tools and resources online that are easy to access when a teacher cannot help you. However, this becomes harmful when students use tools meant for studying to cheat or do assignments for them. For example, there are several websites designed to do math problems for you to check your work with, and then provide you with a detailed set of steps and explanations, but many students use these websites instead to complete assignments for themselves without actually doing the work.
