My distance learning experience took place mostly at the very start of the pandemic and lock down in the spring of 2020. My whole school shut down and all learning was switched to distance learning. This was a very difficult switch as the teachers were also struggling to adapt to the change as well and the altered assignments were very difficult to complete at home. Zoom class was also very difficult without the ability to do in class activities. All finals were also cancelled during this time so both the students and teachers also felt a lack of purpose in learning. I did like the flexibility of distance learning, as I was able to work close to full time during this period because of the time saved doing online assignments and not having to go to physical school. I did not like the diminished learning I experienced during this period, it was much more flexible, but far less impactful. As a teacher, distance learning experience can be improved by making more meaningful assignments that will leave an impact and encourage actual learning.

Open Educational Resources are resources that are"open" for anyone to access and use. These resources are important to promote better learning for all, as teachers can get ideas from others and also supplement their own lessons with other materials. These resources may also be especially important for new teachers who may be struggling to create lesson plans or activities. Linked below is a n open education resource with a lesson plan for teaching how to solve linear equations.

Working on the last PowerPoint assignment, I have learned how to use several new features. One of the most useful features I found was the smart art tool, as I could add in a graphic and then edit words into it which was very helpful and I will definitely be using this tool in the future. Another useful skill I learned was how to edit slide layout because I never knew how to do that before this assignment and I would sometimes be frustrated with my limited slide layout options. I really liked how this assignment also focused on the CRAP principles as well as it made me think more about what information was most important and how I should highlight it. I disliked the complexity of accessing some of the features on my laptop, but in the future that issue can be improved by using a library computer.
